A report for the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWI) co-written by Prof. Dr. Jan Krämer and the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) on current economic, legal and political issues in the digital economy has just been released. The report summarizes the current debates and the state of the scholarly literature on issues like broadband investment, digital services and Industry 4.0. Professor Krämer authored the part on digital services, where issues like assessment of market power in the digital economy, data-driven business models and the economic role of data, as well as the appropriate regulatory framework for communications and information services is discussed.
